Vimy De la Barra Valdez, DDS, MSc, MPH, is a dentist and public health researcher whose work focuses on oral cancer, oral health inequities, health policy, and the social determinants of health in Latin America. She earned her dental degree from the Universidad Autónoma Gabriel René Moreno in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. She holds a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Administration from the University of Illinois Chicago as a Fulbright Scholar, and a Master’s Degree in Health Science Research from the Universidad Pública de Navarra, Spain, where she was awarded a Fundación Carolina scholarship. She currently serves as Research Coordinator at the School of Dentistry at Universidad Nacional Ecológica in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, where she leads and collaborates in the design and development of oral health research projects. Her academic work focuses on strengthening and integrating evidence-based approaches in dental education. She also serves as a university lecturer, teaching research and statistics courses within dentistry programs. She collaborates on oral health research initiatives through academic and nonprofit organizations and has presented her research at various national and international scientific conferences.
